Jonny Clayton impressively captured his third European Tour title by defeating Niko Springer 8-6 in the final of the Dutch Darts Championship. At the Autotron in Rosmalen on Sunday night, 'The Ferret' managed to shine again, in a riveting final match in which he faced multiple setbacks.
This time the Welshman, who finished runner-up behind Josh Rock last year, battled back from arrears of 3-0, 4-1 and 5-2 to deny the young German his first title on the PDC circuit. Clayton showed his resilience, experience ánd class at the right time.
With this victory, Clayton continues to build on his excellent record in Rosmalen, where he already won a Players Championship title earlier this year. This brings his win streak on Dutch soil to 12 matches in a row.

"This is a great feeling,” reflected Clayton. “I missed out to Josh Rock last year and I’ve gone one better this year. I’ve also had a ProTour win in Rosmalen, so this may be my new lucky home!
Clayton also had words of praise for his opponent: “What a player Niko is. He’s got such a big future. He’s a great lad with a great attitude, and he shows it on that dartboard.
“I came back somehow, and then I managed to get ahead and stay ahead. I’m so pleased to get over the line; it’s brilliant."
With this triumph, Jonny Clayton climbs to fifth in the world rankings and seals his first major stage title since June 2023. The European Tour continues already next weekend with the European Darts Open in Leverkusen, where Dave Chisnall starts as defending champion after beating Ross Smith in last year's final.
