Luke Littler capped off the regular phase of the Premier League Darts in sensational style. The 18-year-old Englishman claimed his sixth weekly title of the year—a new record—by defeating fellow countryman Luke Humphries 6-3 in the final night in Sheffield.
With that victory, Littler heads into next week's playoffs at London's O2 Arena as the top seed and tournament favorite. He’ll face Gerwyn Price in the semifinals, while Luke Humphries takes on Nathan Aspinall in the other matchup.
Littler’s path to the final on the night saw him overcome Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall with strong performances, most notably an astonishing 114.37 average in his opening match against Bunting.
"It is a tough format but I have got myself through. I am very happy to be top again and breaking all these records once again," Littler told Emma Paton on Sky Sports immediately following his win. "I am very ready. I am ready for the semi-final. "It is the O2. I have been there before, I have won a semi-final there before but so has Gerwyn [Price]. I am looking forward to it."
Littler also took the the time to comment on his rivalry with Humphries. "In the Premier League there is always points up for grabs, there is always the £10,000 bonus so we are always going to be playing for something," he assessed after the latest installment of their storied rivalry. "For myself, it is probably just a warm-up."
