Unluckiest man in darts? Darryl Pilgrim part of striking trend in European Tour qualifying tournaments
Jenny Segers/PDC Europe

Statistics platform Darts Tracker has detected a striking trend in Darryl Pilgrim's participation in the 2025 Euro Tour qualifying tournaments for Tour Card holders.

Ten Euro Tour qualifying tournaments have been played so far this season. Twice Pilgrim managed to qualify for the main tournament. What stands out, however, is that on the eight occasions when the Englishman did not make it, he ended up losing to the player who eventually walked away with a starting spot.

Pilgrim qualified for the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze early this season, while he also recently made his appearance at the European Darts Open in Leverkusen. Three times he lost in the final round to a qualifier; against Robert Grundy, Mickey Mansell and Ricardo Pietreczko, respectively. So they all managed to secure a spot at the final tournament.

But the same happened to Pilgrim against Adam Hunt, Thibault Tricole, Karel Sedlacek, Gabriel Clemens and Martin Lukeman. They won over Pilgrim before the final round and ended up qualifying as well.
