Chris Dobey could do nothing but take a bow for Gerwyn Price on Wednesday night. 'Hollywood' was defeated 11-3 by an unleashed Price in the second round of the World Matchplay.
After a much-discussed first round, Price played one of his best matches ever on television against Dobey. In fact, his average was well above 110 for much of the match, but eventually his average ended at 108.73. 'The Iceman' threw eight 180-scores and had a phenomenal finishing percentage of 73.3 percent.
"Wow, that was one hell of a beating,'' a sporty Dobey wrote on his Instagram Stories. "Fair play to Gezzy, he was unplayable at times. Gave my all there but wasn't good enough on the night. I'll be back next year to do it all over again. Thank you for all teh support this week, it's bene fantastic."
For Dobey, a few days of rest now remain before two more Players Championship tournaments are scheduled for next week. After that, Dobey may catch a plane to Australia and New Zealand. 'Hollywood' has received an invitation from the PDC to play the two World Series tournaments 'Down Under'. These will be played in Wollongong (Aug. 8-9) and Auckland (Aug. 15-16).
