Joey Chestnut wins record 15th Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

It's hard to remember a July 4th that Joey Chestnut didn't snag headlines for winning Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. Which is fair, given the Kentucky native has been winning the Independence Day spectacle for over a decade.

Chestnut added to his legacy on Monday as he won his 15th contest, chowing down 63 hot dogs en route to snagging the record-setting victory.

Chestnut's record-setting run had extra flair this year as the famous competitive eater showed up to the event on crutches due to a tendon injury.

The contest, held at Coney Island, has gained even more attention in recent years because of the "rivalry" between Chestnut and fellow competitive eater  Takeru Kobayashi.

Chestnut, 38, holds more than 50 world records for competitive eating.
