While Joan is there, she has encounters that will change her forever.
The novel here could be considered both a romance and a mystery. It’s an extensive character study of Beth, Frank, and Gabriel. Written with great insight and emotion, Clare Leslie Hall keeps the reader engrossed and guessing until the end. A thoughtful story with engaging and deep characters, complex relationships, and compelling motivations, it’s hard to put this book down.
Author Brad Thor released this book just in time for July 4th! The book follows spy Scot Harvath into a world of mystery, shady politics, high-stakes espionage, and surprises at every turn. Working against an evil cabal that could destroy the world, Harvath must suss out who he can trust and ultimately depend on for his mission’s success and for his survival. This taut thriller does not disappoint.
One of the most talked-about books of 2025 is this novel by Ocean Vuong. Vuong tells the story of Hai, a resident of East Gladness, Connecticut. Hai is ready to jump off a bridge, then is distracted by an old woman, Grazina, yelling at him. The two form an unusual and strong bond, and both find they have a new purpose. Vuong has spun an amazing story that sticks with the reader for a long time.
Alice and Hayden are both writers, and they are vying to tell the story of an old woman, Margaret. But Margaret isn’t any old woman; she’s lived a storied life, often in the tabloids, and from one of the most renowned families of the 20th century. The two writers are both invited to the highly reclusive woman’s island. They have a month to compete for the chance to write her biography. The book is by Emily Henry.
Stephen King’s character Holly Gibney is helping her detective friend Izzy unravel the latest danger. This time, they’re trying to stop a threat against an activist who’s on multiple speaking engagements. With intertwined plots, unexpected twists, and intricate storylines, this intriguing novel is one of King’s best. He raises the stakes in this story, making it easily one of the top 10 best selling books of 2025.
Barry’s Bay is the setting for this summer romance. Shameless swooning and quivering butterflies are in store for this tale. Carley Fortune has constructed the perfect story of Alice (re)meeting Charlie years later, as the two have matured. Between the scenery, the characters, and their banter, the reader is transported right to the heart of the story and to the heat of the moment. It’s an ideal summer read!
This is part of the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros. Here we find Violet, who has just spent 18 months at college, training for war. Once out, she must find her allies in order to protect her world. Her family, her heritage, and her dragons are at stake. Fun fact: this is in development at MGM Amazon Studios for a TV series with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society. Definitely a great top 10 best selling book.
In this charming romantasy, we see a different take on the classic Beauty and the Beast. Gwen is traveling and when her caravan encounters a dangerous situation, she meets a half-orc, Oskar. Forming an unexpected alliance, the two find they have feelings for one another. Now she must navigate her life choices. This is part of the Critical Role book series by Filipino author Thea Guanzon.
Chance encounters can really change everything, as evidenced in this book. Phoebe, who is despondent, travels to a hotel in Rhode Island and is mistaken for a wedding guest of the bride. She meets Lila (the bride) plus her wedding party, and what she discovers ends up being not only life-changing, but also life-preserving. Worthwhile lessons are to be learned in this clever read by Alison Espach.
