'Emily in Paris'

'Emily in Paris'
Netflix

Everyone’s favorite show to make jokes about. The one aspect that has always been positive (whether hate-watching or for-real watching) is how well it captures the beauty and feel of Paris. Sure, Emily might give your hardcore second-hand embarrassment, but at least you can feel like you are wandering along the Seine, croissant in hand.

The film that has often been said to capture the city of light and love perfectly has a plot line as sweet as the clips of Paris. The main character wanders around at night and encounters celebrities of Paris’ artistic and literary past (and present.)

'Ratatouille'

'Ratatouille'
Buena Vista Pictures/Pixar/Walt Disney

Paris, from another point of view — animated and as a rat, but one who cooks. This movie is fun for the entire family and does a nice job of animating and colorizing the town.

'Portrait of a Lady on Fire'

'Portrait of a Lady on Fire'
Pyramide Films

In scenic pre-Revolution Brittany, this tragic love story will have you in tears by the end, if not throughout the film. A slow-burn romance between a noblewoman and an artist hired to paint her portrait, it is mostly absent of men, a nod to the “safe space” the creators aimed to create. You’ll enjoy scenes of the crashing Atlantic ocean, famous Breton cliffs, and period costumes.
