20 actors who were born to star in live-action Disney remakes

Disney has always been in the live-action game. But in recent years, all of their live-action movies have been remakes of their already-made and beloved animated films. So, since it doesn’t seem like the entertainment giant is going to stop those anytime soon, why not take a stab at trying to get the casting right in some that might come down the pipeline with actors that have yet to be cast because really, these are the actors that should be in any Disney live-action remakes in the future.

Zendaya

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Zendaya would be able to pull off what it takes to embody the beauty and tenacity of Esmerelda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh has proven in both Crazy Rich Asians and Wicked that when it comes to playing a well-dressed woman of power, she can and does it justice. So if there was ever an Aristocats remake, she would be purrfection as Madame Adelaide Bonfamille.

Glen Powell

Glen Powell

The story of Sleeping Beauty is kind of bare bones. It’s just a girl asleep for most of the movie, but Disney found a way to make that interesting with Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent. If they wanted to take it a step further and focus on the prince who came to save the day, perhaps the handsome Twisters star Glen Powell?

Bruno Mars

A Goofy Movie would be a tough sell as a live-action movie, but if they could pull it off they’d need to pay whatever necessary to get Bruno Mars as the pop star Powerline.

Melissa McCarthy

Toss a grey wig on Melissa McCarthy, and she’d be great at Widow Tweed in The Fox and the Hound.

Coco Jones

When a Disney princess is cast in a live-action remake, they need to be able to hold a note. This is why Coco Jones is really the only choice for Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.

John Krasinski

John Krasinski

There has been a 101 Dalmatians movie, so the other logical step would be a series with John Krasinski playing Roger, the human patriarch of the largely canine home.

Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth has the wonderful ability to pull off charming, dashing himbo. A quality that makes him a great choice for Captain Phoebus in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Mckenna Grace

If there was a rush job for an Inside Out 2, McKenna Grace from the latest iteration of Ghostbuster movies would be an ideal Riley.

Lana Condor

While Disney is already ready to go with a live-action Snow White, perhaps they can revisit with Lana Condor in the future.

William H. Macy

Based on what William H. Macy brought to the table in the Showtime series Shameless, he’s really the only choice to play Fagin, the down-on-his-luck guy in Oliver & Company.

Thomas Middleditch

Thomas Middleditch played jittery and anxious so well in Silicon Valley, and that’s the exact energy needed to portray Remy’s BFF, Alfredo Linguini, in Ratatouille.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Anya Taylor-Joy has said she wants to be Elsa in Frozen, so who are we to deny that?

Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Xavier Collin/Image Press Agency/Sipa USA

Tangled is a live-action remake many want to see and are actually yearning for, but while we’re unsure of who should take the two leads, we’re sure as heck set on Julia Louis-Dreyfus owning it at the villainous Mother Gothel.

Brice Gonzalez

Brice Gonzalez
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA

If Brice Gonzalez doesn’t ring a bell, it’s because he’s still just getting started. His career kicked off on social media, and that led him to Lopez vs Lopez, but with acting chops like that, he’s destined for the big screen. He’d be great in a few years as Miguel in Coco.

Colman Domingo

Everything about Colman Domingo, from his style to his swag to his immense talent, is why he should be the No. 1 choice for Dr. Facilier in a Princess and the Frog remake.

Debra Messing

Disney can often forget the movies they made in the ‘70s, but they shouldn’t because those are as amazing as the rest. With that, young fans might get a kick out of being reintroduced to the wonders of The Rescuers with Debra Messing as the wild Madame Medusa.

Jason Statham

The Rescuers Down Under was way different than its predecessor, but one thing remained the same, a very notable villain, and who else would play the no-good poacher McLeach better than Jason Statham?

Rachel McAdams

It’s only a matter of time before the world of Toy Story goes from computer-animated to live-action. While Andy is likely going to be some new kid on the block, his mother should be none other than Rachel McAdams.

Elizabeth Gillies

Elizabeth Gillies

When it comes to anything related to a live-action Hercules , Ariana Grande’s name gets tossed around a lot, but it’s actually her former Victorious co-star, Elizabeth Gillies, who really deserves the role of Herc’s lady friend, Meg.

Kendra Beltran

Kendra Beltran is a pop culture obsessed writer who spent her youth tirelessly jotting down ‘Total Request Live’ data after school. She took that obsession and a useless college degree, and spun it into enough to pay her rent by writing for MTV Geek, Collider, Popverse, and more. Over the years her interest in pop culture has only grown, and today she finds herself baking while streaming ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ running (slowly) while listening to podcasts about the ‘90s, and hanging out with her dog while taking in emo playlists
