20 TV shows best binged in the fall

Is there any show cozier than Gilmore Girls? Everything about it is perfectly autumnal, even the episodes that take place in other seasons. The show will make you want to move to Stars Hollow, but since that’s not a real place, watching the series in the fall will have to suffice. 

Another classic "GG" show, Gossip Girl, is also best binged in the fall. Though it takes place throughout the entire year, and some of its most important episodes take place during other seasons, some of its best episodes take place in the fall, namely Thanksgiving. 

Who doesn’t love a bit of political scandal? Fictional, that is. Politics don’t take time off, but since major elections happen in the fall, political dramas give off fall energy. Don’t argue with us on this. We don’t make the rules. 

If you want some political drama that’s a little lighter, opt for Veep. It’s absolutely hysterical and will scratch your political drama itch while also making you laugh out loud. 

The Friday night lights the title is referring to are the lights of a football field in autumn. Need we go on as to why this show is best binged in the fall?

Not every season of Only Murders in the Building takes place in the fall, but tonally, the series fits fall the best. Its title sequence features a quintessentially fall vista, too. It's inarguably a fall show. 

The Walking Dead is all kinds of spooky. If you want a well-done horror series that goes on for a seemingly infinite number of seasons, The Walking Dead is the show for you this fall. 

American Horror Story is another great option if you like an outright horror series. Some seasons are scarier than others, but each offers a great autumnal vibe if you’re into the horror side of fall. 

Virgin River won’t scare you, but it’s still got all the fall vibes you’re looking for. The setting, the lens, and the lighting all scream fall. It’s a great binge if you love juicy storylines and romance. 

One Tree Hill is another classic teen drama that deserves to be binged in the fall. Something about high school students fighting with each other is more satisfying when the leaves are changing colors. 

You get the picture here. If it has anything to do with the supernatural, it needs to be binged in the fall. Once again, we don’t make the rules. But do yourself a favor and schedule a Buffy the Vampire Slayer rewatch for this fall. 

Speaking of the supernatural, what fits that description better than Supernatural itself? This is a great one for late fall, and it’s perfect to watch after Gilmore Girls if you’re a fan of Jared Padalecki. 

Though it isn’t outright named for it like another popular series, Stranger Things also has lots to do with the supernatural. And its vintage setting and dark lighting lend themselves to a fall feel. 

If you want even more of a throwback show with supernatural elements, Charmed is perfect. It’ll make you want to heat up some cider and put a pot of soup on the stove. 

The plots of A Series of Unfortunate Events are particularly fall-forward, nor are they outright spooky, but they are eerie and strange, and that makes it a TV show that is best binged in the fall. 

If a show’s best episodes take place during a certain time of the year, that’s when you should binge it. The best episodes of Friends are its Thanksgiving episodes; therefore, the series should be binged in the fall. 

The same logic used for Friends applies to Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The best Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes are the Halloween Heist episodes. You can do the math. 

Once again, high schoolers fighting in the fall is much more entertaining than in any other season. There’s also a murder mystery component of Riverdale that makes it totally autumnal. 

We had to throw in one more teen drama, just for good measure. Pretty Little Liars is indisputably a fall show, and it would be even if it didn’t involve high schoolers fighting. It has all sorts of autumnal elements. 

There’s something so cozy about This Is Us that makes it perfect for watching in the fall. If you haven’t watched it, be warned that it’s highly emotional. But you’re likely spending more time indoors as the weather cools, so what better time to dive into this show than fall?
