20 TV shows that won the most Emmys in a single year

Just as the Oscars are the mark of quality when it comes to cinema, so the Emmys are the awards toward which television writers, actors, and creators aspire. Several TV series have earned numerous awards in a year, setting a standard for other storytellers. What’s particularly striking about these series is the generic diversity they represent. Though drama does tend to dominate the Emmys, various sitcoms have proven more than capable of holding their own, and a few, such as Schitt’s Creek, have even managed to make a clean sweep in a single season, showing that comedy is often as powerful and as popular as drama.
