21 of the most relatable Disney and Pixar characters

It could be the magic of Disney that has made their movies some of the most beloved in cinema history, or the fact that their flicks showcase characters that viewers of all ages can constantly see themselves in and be inspired by. The latter is more likely because ever since Snow White wandered into the home of several strangers, people have been dedicated to Disney. Snow White was just the start, with many relating to her sweet nature. Still, since then, there has been a cascade of characters who’ve entered the picture to become the most relatable Disney and Pixar characters to date because they represent a variety of moods, attitudes, and lifestyle choices.

Cinderella

Cinderella
Walt Disney Pictures/RKO Radio Pictures

Overworked and not paid enough. Walt Disney probably didn’t think Cinderella would be a clear representation of the average person in the 21st century when they adapted this fairytale.

Aladdin

Aladdin
Walt Disney Pictures

Social media is where people live their best life — at least, that’s what they post to make it seem so. Aladdin is 100% representative of that. He faked the funk to get with Jasmine, so those who tend to spend too much time curating their content for clout definitely get what that so-called street rat was all about.

Troy Bolton

Troy Bolton

Not because he played basketball. Nor because he had a secret singing talent. Troy Bolton is relatable because he acted extremely over the top when faced with a decision.

Vanellope von Schweetz

Vanellope von Schweetz
Walt Disney Pictures

Disney knocked it out of the park when they finally decided to tackle the world of video games with Wreck-It Ralph , especially when it came to Sarah Silverman’s Vanellope von Schweetz. She lived a long time thinking she was an issue, a glitch, but eventually discovered she was so much more. It’s relatable and inspiring for those who’ve yet to realize that about themselves.

Ariel

Ariel
Walt Disney Pictures

Ariel has so many qualities that people can relate to. For one, she doesn’t read the terms and conditions before signing Ursula’s contract. She is also an avid collector, so anyone with one too many Funko Pop figurines knows what that’s all about. There’s also the core of Ariel’s story, wanting more out of life than what's expected.

Kendra Beltran

Kendra Beltran is a pop culture obsessed writer who spent her youth tirelessly jotting down ‘Total Request Live’ data after school. She took that obsession and a useless college degree, and spun it into enough to pay her rent by writing for MTV Geek, Collider, Popverse, and more. Over the years her interest in pop culture has only grown, and today she finds herself baking while streaming ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ running (slowly) while listening to podcasts about the ‘90s, and hanging out with her dog while taking in emo playlists
