The winners of the 2026 Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzie Awards, were announced today. The top winner of the awards is Ice Cube and the 2025 movie remake of “War of the Worlds,” which took home the win for five out of the six categories the movie was nominated for. At most award shows, the top winner would celebrate a big win, but, unlike the Oscars, the Razzie Awards honor the best in the “worst movie” categories.
The 10 categories for the Golden Raspberry Awards are: Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Actress, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel, Worst Screen Combo, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and the Razzie Redeemer Award.
The “Friday After Next” actor and the movie “War of the Worlds” won the awards for Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel. The 2025 version of The War of the Worlds” is a remake of the classic 1898 novel by H. G. Wells, starring Ice Cube as William “Will” Radford. As soon as the movie was released on Amazon Prime, the remake received harsh criticism with an IMDb rating of 2.5.
According to The Razzies Award official website, insight into why the 2025 remake is the shining star of the show,
“It was a decisive battle, and ‘War of the Worlds’ won the 46th Razzie® Awards hands down! Becoming a cult hate-watch classic almost immediately, “War of the Worlds” (the 2025 version) has been cemented in Razzie history as a near-sweeper of our $4.97 trophy winner. Remake, Actor, Screenplay, Director, and Picture win huge for this Amazon Prime offering. Utterly destroying H.G Wells classic novel, director Rich Lee (maybe inspired by Ed Wood) chose a goofy gimmick, hack dialogue, and a particularly hilarious performance by its lead, Ice Cube, to seize 2025’s biggest number of statues.”
Another unlucky remake at the Razzie Awards is Disney’s latest version of “Snow White.” All Seven Dwarfs won the award for Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo. The Razzie Award website attributes the movie’s poor performance to the curse of Walt Disney for the movie’s poor performance. “It cost a fortune and lost a fortune, perhaps cursed by Walt himself for having ignored his dying wish for it never to be remade.”
The real winner of the night is Oscar-nominated star Kate Hudson. Hudson won the Razzie Redeemer Award. The Razzie Redeemer Award is presented to stars who have redeemed themselves in the eyes of the Razzie movie critics with an outstanding movie performance.
