Not too long ago, I got a really weird email from an address that I didn’t recognize. That’s not unusual at all for me considering I am an editor at a pop culture website. It said it was from Undertone Podcast but the email address spelled the word undertone backwards. The subject line was what stopped me in my tracks. It said “DRAEH EB OT STNAW TI,” which I assumed was just spam nonsense that would get the immediate delete.
But, when I stared at the subject line for a second, I realized it was a backwards message saying “It Wants To Be Heard.” As a person who has been haunted by strange things before, I was like “Have I not suffered enough?” But thankfully, it was not a weird haunting, but rather the prelude to A24’s trailer for its upcoming podcast horror flick undertone. (Yes, the movie title has all lowercase letters.)
It wants to be heard. Watch the trailer for undertone, a new sound in horror from director Ian Tuason. In theaters Friday, March 13. pic.twitter.com/JnIXw1L7SM

This film stars Nina Kiri as the host of a paranormal podcast. She receives some really weird audio files and ends up listening to them backwards. And, well, things get incredibly terrifying for her. The undertone trailer is sonically rich and has quite a few chilling scenes in it. The film is written and directed by Ian Tuason and also stars Kris Holden-Ried, Michèle Duquet, Keana Lyn Bastidasand, Sarah Beaudin, Seled Calderon, and Adam DiMarco.
Find out what’s going on with those creepy files and if this poor podcast lady will live when undertone hits theaters on March 13.
