ABC pivots and moves up premiere dates for '9-1-1,' '9-1-1: Nashville,' and 'Grey's Anatomy'

Surprise! ABC is bringing back 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, and Grey's Anatomy earlier than expected. All three dramas will now premiere on Thursday, October 9.

9-1-1 will start off the night at 8:00 PM ET/PT with Angela Bassett, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Kenneth Choi, Aisha Hinds, and Gavin McHugh returning to our TVs.

The series explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders — including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers — who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping conditions. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from the real lives of first responders who regularly face situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.

The procedural is heading into its ninth season and was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and showrunner Tim Minear. Additional executive producers include Bassett, former cast member Peter Krause, John J. Gray, Brad Buecker, Lyndsey Beaulieu, Ted Griffen, and Robert M. Williams.

Then, at 9 PM ET/PT, we'll have 9-1-1: Nashville, the newest entry into the franchise. The cast will include Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Hailey Kilgore, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz, and Hunter McVey.

9-1-1: Nashville is a high-octane procedural about heroic first responders, as well as their family saga of power and glamour set in one of America’s most diverse and dynamic cities.

The series is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, with Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear, and showrunner Rashad Raisani serving as executive producers and writers. O’Donnell, Brad Buecker, Brad Falchuk, and Bassett also executive produce.

To conclude the night, Grey's Anatomy is taking us back to Grey Sloan Memorial at 10 PM ET/PT. The medical drama stars Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Jason George, Kim Raver, Chris Carmack, Anthony Hill, Alexis Floyd, Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, and Niko Terho.

The high-intensity medical drama, now in its 22nd season, follows a team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial who are faced with life-or-death decisions on a daily basis. They seek comfort from one another and, at times, more than just friendship. Together, they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.

Debbie Allen, Scott Speedman, Jaicy Elliot, and Trevor Jackson recur.

All episodes will stream on Hulu the next day.
