'Adolescence' actor Owen Cooper makes history with his Emmy nomination

Owen Cooper has earned a 2025 Emmy nomination for his performance as Jamie Miller in Netflix's Adolescence. He is officially the youngest nominee in the history of the Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category. A win would make him the youngest male winner not only in this category, but in any acting Emmy category ever.

Adolescence tells the story of how a family’s world is turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school.

Additionally, the series was nominated in the following categories: Best Limited or Anthology Series, Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Ashley Walters, Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco, Best Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Jack Thorne and Graham, and Best Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Philip Barantini.

Cooper will next be seen as the younger version of Jacob Elordi's character in Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights, scheduled to release on February 13, 2026. The film also stars Margot Robbie.

The actor told Deadline that Elordi roasted him, sharing, "They were all saying how big the show's gone, and they were sick of seeing me on TV and stuff. That’s what Jacob said. Margot said that she was dying to watch it."

As for his Emmy nomination, he said, "It’s crazy,” continuing to express, "It’s been the best year of my life. Now it’s over a little bit, I’m going back to a bit of normality."
