Alicia Silverstone says that the 'Clueless' follow-up series is "in very early stages"

Alicia Silverstone is offering some new teasers regarding Peacock's Clueless sequel series, which will have her reprising her beloved role as Cher Horowitz.

"Where we are at is that it’s in very early stages. I’m obviously excited. I never thought that that was something I would ever do because I wouldn’t wanna mess up this thing that we all love so much," she explained to Entertainment Tonight. "So we will do our very best to honor the original movie that we love and also bring something new to it."

The actress continued to add, "That’s the goal, and I believe we will execute that goal." As for how the character has transformed since the 1995 film, she reflected on the fashion. "I can’t wait to step back into Cher’s skin and her fancy designer shoes that will be gently used, of course — duh — because she’s evolved," Silverstone, who also serves as an executive producer, expressed. "This is 2025. She’s not wearing the new stuff unless it’s, you know, sustainable or vegan. We’ll have to see how far we can go with that."

Additionally, the Clueless cast included Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Donald Faison, Elisa Donovan, Breckin Meyer, and Dan Hedaya. It's unclear if any of them could be involved in a cameo or guest star capacity. Silverstone recently appeared as Cher in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten.

As for the follow-up, Variety reported that Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will write and executive produce for their Fake Empire banner alongside Jordan Weiss. Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, who produced the movie, will both executive produce.
