Fallout is back for season two. And this year, it’s gorier than ever, with even more shoot-outs, exploding heads, and rad-filled creatures. Fallout is a series known for its many collateral deaths, but in season one of the show, we also lost a few characters who play a larger role in the story, such as Wilzig and Moldaver. We don’t yet know everything that Fallout season two will hold for us, but we expect to add at least a few more character deaths that really matter to the pile. Here are all the big character deaths we’ve seen so far on Fallout season two. Here, we’re counting these as either the deaths of major characters or of characters very relevant to the plot.
It’s not so much that Xander Harkness was an important character on his own right. In fact, we barely got to know Xander, himself, played by Kumail Nanjiani, but we do know that he is a paladin/representative of the Commonwealth, a powerful chapter of the brotherhood. And as Maximus makes plain to us in Fallout season two, episode three, after Xander Harkness meets death at his hands, killing Xander will mean Civil War in the Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood is already in a very tenuous position. Elder Cleric Quintus, who leads Maximus’ chapter of the Brotherhood, the Knights of San Fernando, is trying to unite with other chapters, wanting to revolt against the Commonwealth, the chapter of the Brotherhood we’ve come to understand holds the most power. Now that Maximus has retrieved the artifact, also known as Cold Fusion technology, Cleric Quintus thinks they can rule the Wasteland. But they can’t do so unless everyone unites. The arrival of Xander, a representative of the Brotherhood, throws the thoughts of an alliance into question. And Quintus makes clear that if they kill Xander without unifying, the Commonwealth will come down on them and they’ll all be destroyed.
But, alas. Maximus goes off with Nanjiani’s Xander Harkness and finds out that he is a TERRIBLE individual. He seems unpleasant and trigger-happy. And it all comes to a head when Xander and Maximus find the bottle cap factory that Thaddeus is running along with other children, ghoul and none-ghoul alike. Xander wants to kill all the Ghouls, simply for being “abominations,” but Maximus tries to stop him. In the end, Xander won’t listen to reason and Maximus gives him a blowtorch to the head. We’re not sad about this Fallout season two death, but we’re worried it will mean many more to come.
Xander’s death in Fallout season two, episode three, could mean all-out war across the Wasteland.
The Fallout season two death of Xander Harkness, played by Kumail Nanjiani, wasn’t a very sad one, although we are sad not to see more of the actor. But we bet other deaths on Fallout‘s second season will hit harder. We’re just crossing our fingers that none of our very favorites will get caught in the crossfire.
New episodes of Fallout season two drop Wednesdays on Prime Video.
