Nikki Glaser appeared as a guest judge on the April 27 episode of American Idol, and fans were convinced that she had tension with Carrie Underwood on the panel. But in a recent interview, Underwood set the record straight regarding her real feelings about the comedienne.
“I think she did such a great job because it’s not an easy thing to come sit behind that desk and try to think of constructive things to say,” Underwood said on Cody Alan’s SiriusXM show. “And I don’t know, I feel like she did everything wonderfully.” She also clarified, “There is no beef. We have no beef.”
Underwood also posted a photo with Glaser on Instagram after the episode and wrote, “Had a fun night with the beautiful and hilarious @nikkiglaser joining us as a guest judge tonight on @americanidol.” Glaser popped into the comments section to reply, “Thank you for being so kind and cool! A true dream sitting next to you!”
Glaser was there to offer commentary on Taylor Swift night. As a massive Swiftie, who attended the Eras tour 22 times, she was the perfect person to judge alongside Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie that night.
Meanwhile, this is Underwood’s second season serving as a judge with Bryan and Richie, who have both been on the show since it moved over to ABC in 2018. The network has not confirmed plans for the 2027 judges’ panel yet.
Before the buzz about a new season begins, the winner of Season 24 will be crowned on May 11. After finalists Keyla Richardson, Jordan McCullough, and Hannah Harper perform, a winner will be determined based on viewer votes. The night will also include performances from more of this season’s finalists, while the judges will each be hitting the stage. Celebrity guests include guest mentor Alicia Keys and more.
