The director of Black Panther is reportedly developing a movie about Prince.

Ryan Coogler, who helmed both Black Panther movies, as well as all three Creed films, has plans to produce a musical with Prince’s songs, according to The InSneider.

“Ryan Coogler [is] producing a jukebox musical based on the music of Prince,” writes entertainment scooper Jeff Sneider. The term 'jukebox musical' refers to a musical in which the majority of the songs are already well-known popular songs, rather than original music. Another upcoming jukebox musical is Joker: Folie a Deux - here's everything we know about that film.

It remains to be seen whether the Prince film is a fully fledged biography of The Purple One, or a story told using his tunes, in the vein of Mamma Mia!

Reportedly, Ryan Coogler is developing the film using his Proximity Media company, with Universal lined up as distributor. There’s no release date or title yet.
