'Crime 101' starring Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry gets a 2026 Presidents' Day weekend release date

Bart Layton's Crime 101 has officially set its release day for February 13, 2026, which marks the start of the long Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The heist film has an all-star cast including Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Tate Donovan, Devon Bostick, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte.

Berry recently shared her admiration for her co-star, saying that she will be a fan of Hemsworth "for the rest of her life" because he stood up for her on set.

"[He’s] a stand-up guy. I won’t go into it now, but he stood up for me in a moment in our movie, and instantly I knew right then I’m gonna follow this guy, be a fan of this guy for the rest of his life because he stood up for a woman," the actress told E! News. "He didn’t have to do it, and he did it."

Meanwhile, Hemsworth expressed, "I’ve admired Halle’s work for many, many years. I was obviously very intimidated to sit opposite her within a scene and try and, you know, not just be in awe of what she was doing."

The movie is based on Don Winslow's novella of the same title, and will follow detective Lou Lubesnick as he "attempts to solve a string of multimillion-dollar jewel heists by tracking the perpetrator who follows a strict set of rules known as 'Crime 101.' As the fates of the various characters converge, the line between hunter and hunted blurs."

At CinemaCon, the filmmaker explained that the L.A.-based 101 Freeway will serve as a key role in the story and that he wanted "to capture L.A. in a way you might not have seen on film before."

Hemsworth also praised the "uniquely mesmerizing film, the kind that draws you into its world and keeps you in suspense in the last possible second."

This will be an on-screen reunion for him and Ruffalo, who worked together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years.
