Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are reuniting for a new romantic thriller

"Speed" was a breakthrough film for both Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. It's a classic '90s action movie that still holds up. Reeves didn't return for the sequel, reasonably so. "What if a boat instead of a bus" just doesn't cut it, even if "Cruise Control" is a good sequel subtitle.

Now, all these years later, Reeves and Bullock are reuniting on the big screen. Not for a "Speed" sequel, but for a new romantic thriller.

This new film, which doesn't have a title or a plot that has been unveiled yet, is from Amazon MGM Studios. Although, hopefully it won't be limited to just being on Amazon Prime. The plot has been described as "propulsive," not unlike a bus that can't slow down without exploding. Clearly, the selling point the studio is hitting is "Reeves and Bullock back together!"

Of course, this is not the first on-screen reunion for the "Speed" co-stars. They appeared in the romance film "The Lake House" in 2006. That's the one with the house and the mailbox and the time travel. It's...missable. Hopefully this reunion will be better. Basically this movie, by bringing the romance and the thrills, is like a combination of "Speed" and "The Lake House." We'll have to know more about the plot before we can get too enthused, but the selling point of the reunion is sufficient for us for now.
