'Another Simple Favor' director Paul Feig has "no rule against three-quels"

After seven years, the sequel to A Simple Favor is now streaming on Prime Video, and the way we leave off equals endless possibilities for a third film. Fans might be thrilled to know that after Another Simple Favor, director Paul Feig is open to doing a follow-up.

"I definitely know where I want it to go," he told PEOPLE. "We'll see if everybody wants to do a third one. It was too much fun — I would love to get back together with this group and these characters and send them on an even weirder, international adventure, if possible."

He then continued to add, "I think we need to take them out into the world even more."

Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.

This is actually Feig's first sequel, so a third film would also be a first for him. "It's all sitting right there to be picked off the tree," he expressed to EW. "Look, as much as I don't like to do sequels and have avoided them, I have no rule against three-quels. There's much more fun to be had with these characters and to see what they can get into and how they can get out of it."

While there was a major plot twist in the first movie, this film had plot twist after plot twist as we delved deeper into the story. "The criticism that came out of certain critics for the first movie was that, 'The third act goes off the rails! It gets so crazy,' but that's the purpose of these movies," he said an the audience at the South by Southwest premiere. "These movies and these characters are supposed to get crazy. That's the world I want to create within because I love entertainment that is maximalist, that really goes for it."

Another Simple Favor stars Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, Elena Sofia Ricci, Henry Golding, and Allison Janney.
