'Breaking Bad' made Vince Gilligan one of television’s most trusted creators, and audiences have been eager to see what he would do next. After teaming with Peter Gould on 'Better Call Saul,' Gilligan has been quietly developing a new series for Apple TV+. For some time the project has been shrouded in mystery, but details are beginning to emerge....slowly
Not long ago this was still the 'Untitled Vince Gilligan Project,' so the fact that we now have a title and a release date feels like a major step forward. The show is called 'Pluribus,' though it is being styled as 'Plur1bus,' a choice we’re not in love with. It stars Rhea Seehorn, giving fans a 'Better Call Saul' reunion that has plenty of people understandably excited. Beyond that, details remain scarce.
A couple of inscrutable teasers have surfaced on YouTube, but this latest drop is the most substantive look we’ve had at 'Pluribus' so far, which in itself says a lot about how tightly under wraps this project remains.
Anytime teasers for a show or movie are this opaque it usually screams “mystery box.” That kind of approach can lead to something brilliant or something that falls flat. With Vince Gilligan at the helm, though, intrigue is more than justified. 'Pluribus' arrives on Apple TV+ on Nov. 7, and even if we still have almost no idea what’s really going on, the curiosity level is high.
