Ariana Grande closes her 'eternal sunshine' era with release of new deluxe album and 'Brighter Days Ahead' short film

Ariana Grande is giving fans a pretty fun release day with eternal sunshine deluxe and brighter days ahead, the short film both dropping today. The short film is directed by Grande and Christian Breslauer and officially closes the door on this eternal sunshine era.

Seventy years have passed since we last saw Peaches (Grande). Now, she finds herself once again in the waiting room of Brighter Days Inc., but this time for a very different appointment. The company now offers advanced memory restoration, allowing her to revisit a curated selection of moments from her life—both cherished and painful. As Peaches embarks on this immersive journey, we watch her confront and heal certain wounds (personal and professional alike) that have made her who she is today. She reconnects with her younger self who had been patiently in the wings for over a decade, as she works her way through the challenges of fame (she is the daughter of the very famous Brighter Days Inc. founder/doctor), personal sensationalism (resulting in being torn apart by stray cats), and generational trauma. In the end, with the help of her loved ones and art, she is able to come home to herself. She would do anything to experience it all again. However, there’s one catch: once a memory is relived, it is erased forever.

One year after eternal sunshine debuted, the deluxe album includes six new songs: "intro (end of the world) extended," "twilight zone," "warm," "dandelion," "past life," and "Hampstead."

While on an episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, she shared, "I'm always going to make music, I'm always going to go on stage, I'm always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise. But I don't think doing it at the rate I've been doing it for the past 10 years. [That] is where I see the next 10 years."

"I love acting, I love musical theater," the singer continued to express. "Reconnecting with this part of myself, who started in musical theater and who loves comedy … heals me. Finding roles to use these parts of myself and put them in little homes and characters and bits and voices and songs really does [heal me] in a different way than songwriting and writing about my own pain because it's just kind of like constantly reliving that one thing that you wrote the song about."

Grande most recently starred as Glinda in Wicked. The movie is currently streaming on Peacock, and the role earned her critical acclaim. She will next be seen in Wicked: For Good, which will be released in theaters on November 21.
