Aubrey Plaza is opening up about how she's preparing to star in and produce a new biopic about Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss, The Heidi Fleiss Story. The dark comedy will serve as Leah Rachel's directorial debut, with Rachel Sennott writing the script alongside Rachel and Travis Jackson.
"I’ve been on this track for a while," the actress explained to IndieWire. "I got it in my head that I wanted to play her a couple of years ago and I’ve never played a real-life person before. It’s a different kind of scale, challenge, that I’m really excited about, and I just think she’s an incredible person, incredible character. The story is insane. She’s done something that probably nobody else has ever done, and she’s still going. I think she’s the ultimate bad--- icon and she deserves the royal treatment. We shall give it to her."
In addition to Plaza producing for Evil Hag, Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett will produce for Pinky Promise. Production is currently scheduled for this year in Los Angeles.

"I have not spoken with her, [but] I hope so. I hope to make a little trip to her place in the desert at some point," she continued to share. "Spiritually I feel her. I’ve heard she’s very excited about it. We’re in early stages."
In 1993 Los Angeles, a powerful young woman named Heidi Fleiss is arrested for running the largest high-end prostitution ring in the world. With the unlikely help of an aspiring writer, Jaclyn, who vows to be the one to write ‘The Heidi Fleiss Story,’ Heidi scrambles around LA trying to blackmail and leverage various connections to get the case dropped.
Plaza will next be seen starring in Honey Don't!, which will be released in theaters on August 22.
