Last year, it was revealed that a One Tree Hill sequel series was in the works at Netflix with Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton Morgan, and Danneel Ackles, who were all in the original series, executive producing. Bush and Morgan would also be reprising their beloved roles of Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer. Mark Schwahn would not be involved, as Becky Hartman Edwards would be serving as showrunner.
According to Deadline, the reboot "is said to take place 20 years later following best friends Brooke and Peyton who are now parents to teens and facing challenges not unfamiliar to what they tackled in the original series like love, insecurities and grief, we understand."
The last we saw of Bush's character in season 9, she was happily married to Austin Nichols' Julian Baker, the couple raising twin sons. So would Nichols be returning as well?
"I would absolutely love to," he expressed to Deadline. "I spent a lot of years doing that show and fell in love with Wilmington, North Carolina, and made a lot of great friends there. We had a lot of fun. And ultimately, when something still has this kind of excitement around it this many years later, you kinda go, 'Oh my god! Yeah, why not make more of it? People still watch it and love it.'"
He continued to comment, "I think it could be great. I know that they’re writing scripts, and there’s been some notes and some back and forth. It sounds good. Hopefully we have some good news soon."
Burton Morgan was last seen as Peyton in the season 6 finale after getting married to Chad Michael Murray's Lucas Scott and welcoming their little girl into the world before driving away in the Comet.
The drama ran from 2003 to 2012, and a lot of OG cast members are open to coming back in some capacity. However, Paul Johansson and Murray will not be appearing.
