Of all the superheroes from either DC or Marvel, it is almost unquestionable that Batman has the best villains. From Joker to Penguin to Catwoman to Harley Quinn, many of Batman’s rogues are simply as iconic as he is. But the Dark Knight has a metric ton of bad guys. And many of them have never made it to live-action film or television. Some have never even appeared in animation. However, the new Prime Video family-friendly comedy Batman animated series, Bat-Fam, is looking to give some of those Gotham City C-listers a chance to show their stuff.
According to Comic Book, the new comedic animated Bat-Fam series is a sequel to the 2023 film Merry Little Batman. In this show, Batman (Luke Wilson) is dad to Damian Wayne, who in this series isn’t Robin, he’s “Little Batman.” The great James Cromwell plays Alfred the Butler. In Merry Little Batman, they fought some iconic Arkham villains. But with Bat-Fam, they’ve chosen to focus on different, less popular baddies. The ones who rarely ever get a shot at the spotlight outside of comic books. One of those is Man-Bat, played here by Bobby Moynihan.
In the first season of Bat-Fam will feature Killer Moth, Copperhead, King Tut, Solomon Grundy, and the Mad Hatter. King Tut was a creation of the Batman ’66 series, and others have never had a movie or TV series to truly shine. Livewire and Toyman are Superman villains traditionally, but they have fought Batman in the past. And Giganta? That’s one of Wonder Woman’s most notorious adversaries. Sure, some of them might make it to live-action someday. But many of these never will, so it’s nice they’re getting their moment. The 10-episode first season of Bat-Fam is currently streaming on Prime Video, along with the more traditional series Batman: Caped Crusader.
