Betty White on turning 100 years old: 'I'm so lucky'

Betty White graces the cover of the latest issue of People in anticipation of her 100th birthday on Jan. 17.

"I'm so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age," the five-time Emmy winner told the outlet for the accompanying cover story. "It's amazing."

White noted that she was "born a cockeyed optimist" and that outlook has sustained her whole life. "I got it from my mom, and that never changed," she said. "I always find the positive."

White is iconic for countless reasons, but her best-known roles are perhaps "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1973-77), "The Golden Girls" (1985-92) and "Hot in Cleveland" (2010-15). She also starred alongside Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Mary Steenburgen in 2009 romantic comedy "The Proposal."

Of White's 121 acting credits, she most recently did voiceover work in "Toy Story 4" (2019), "Trouble" (2019) and "Forky Asks a Question" (2019).

"Nowadays, White enjoys a quiet life in Los Angeles playing crossword puzzles and card games," People relayed. "She also likes to watch animal documentaries, 'Jeopardy!' and sports, particularly golf. White, who is a longtime animal welfare advocate, is also a longtime supporter of the Wildlife Learning Center, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Actors and Others for Animals."
