Are you ready for an adult animated comedy with some serious bite? Tubi’s upcoming Breaking Bear comes to the streaming service this Friday, July 24, and its all-star cast is just as insane as it’s plot: A family of bears tries to save their forest from fracking by starting up a drug den. Yes, seriously. Their meth business will make you want to shout “Yeah, science!”
Now, about the cast. The core family is voiced by Brendan Fraser (Jer), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Blair) and Josh Gad (Alistair). Annie Murphy voices human newscaster Tawny, and Elizabeth Hurley is behind the bear family’s brutal enemy, Wolf Queen.
At New York Comic Con in October 2025, TV Insider caught up with some of the Breaking Bear cast — Fraser, Gellar, Murphy, and Hurley — for a fun conversation about the wacky series. “It’s an equal opportunity offender,” says Fraser. “If you have pearls to clutch, you might want to leave them at home.”
He also teases the dynamic between his Jer and Gellar’s Blair, siblings with a co-dependent relationship. “[Jer] thinks he’s in charge, and manages to screw things up generally,” he says, as Gellar chimes in: “And [Blair] fixes them.”
While Hurley notes that her Wolf Queen, the leader of Wolf Hollow, has plans to kill all the bears, Murphy’s Tawny is a human bear ally, who is “thirsty for power and success,” Murphy says, but also has a “special relationship” with Jer. Wink wink.
Human-bear relations aside, the cast also talked about their favorite lines in the series (Gellar’s is worth watching for!), and what it’s like to have established fanbases at Comic Con.
But what really sells us on Breaking Bear? You know a show is going to be absolutely hilarious when the entire cast can’t keep a straight face while explaining their new show. Check it all out in the video above.
