Britney Spears celebrated end of conservatorship with 'first glass of champagne': 'I was on cloud 9'

Britney Spears is officially free.

Last Friday (Nov. 12), Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ruled to immediately terminate Spears' conservatorship of her estate and person that had been in place since October 2008.

The 39-year-old pop icon celebrated with her "first glass of champagne at the most beautiful restaurant," as she detailed in an Instagram post on Monday:

"What an amazing weekend … I felt like I was on cloud 9 the whole time !!!" the Grammy winner wrote, in part. "I actually got my first glass of champagne at the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever seen last night !!!! I’m celebrating my freedom and my B day for the next two months !!!!!!!!!!! I mean after 13 years … I think I’ve waited long ENOUGH !!!! I’m so happy my lawyer Mathew Rosengart came into my life when he did … he has truly turned my life around … I’m forever thankful for that !!!! What a sight seeing so many people celebrating my victory …. I love my fans so much … so thank you !!!!⁣"

This followed several posts from Friday, shortly after news broke that the conservatorship was over:

As Spears said, the well-deserved celebration will continue through her 40th birthday on Dec. 2.
