Started in 1969, Directors’ Fortnight was made to celebrate artistic expression and shine the spotlight on both emerging and established filmmakers. Rather than focusing on commercial appeal, the line-up places importance on a director’s storytelling style, creative vision, and cinematic approach. It was organized by the French Directors’ Guild.
