Dick Wolf turns out to be fallible. He's one of the most-successful TV creators and producers in history, having struck it big with "Law & Order" and the ensuing spinoffs. Then, there were the "Chicago" shows for NBC, three of which are still going.
Wolf then added some CBS procedurals into the mix, knowing that a CBS procedural can quietly run for 12 years of steady success. This birthed the "FBI" franchise, but said franchise has just taken a hit. Two spinoff series, "Most Wanted" and "International," have been canceled by CBS.

"FBI: Most Wanted" will end at the conclusion of its sixth season, while "FBI: International" is ending after four seasons. Those aren't bad runs, but Wolf's used to the shows he produces running a little longer than that. "Most Wanted" did also have to navigate series lead Julian McMahon leaving the show, with Dylan McDermott stepping in.
CBS remains in love with spinoffs of its procedurals. There are currently three versions of "NCIS" on, a spinoff of "Blue Bloods" coming, a spinoff of "Fire Country" also arriving soon, and even a spinoff of "The Equalizer" in the works.
On that front, not all is lost for Wolf and company. The original "FBI" is still extant, and last year got a three-season renewal that will take it through its ninth season. Plus, another spinoff is in development. Inexplicably, it is called "FBI: CIA."

While lovers of the "FBI" Universe are probably disappointed in the news, the tendrils of the franchise will live on. Also, you have like a dozen other Dick Wolf shows you can watch.
