Chaka Khan has unveiled her latest single Curious Subject, offering fans a soulful, laid‑back reflection on the contradictions that come with getting older.

The track arrives ahead of her new album CHAKZILLA, due out September 18.

The song sees Khan teaming up once again with Sia and Greg Kurstin, who co‑wrote the track, with Kurstin also handling production.

Khan is the "curious subject" mention on the track, and it sees her embracing being older and the notion that: “The more I grow, the less I know.”

The single lands alongside a new performance for A COLORS SHOW, marking Khan’s second appearance on the global platform. Her recent rendition of Through the Fire pulled in more than 700,000 YouTube views and eight million Instagram views in just over a week, underscoring her continued impact across generations.

CHAKZILLA brings together a heavyweight creative team. Sia co‑writes across the album and appears on Cool U Down, while Snoop Dogg and Lenny Kravitz also make guest appearances. Kurstin, a Grammy‑winning producer, oversees the project from start to finish.

The I'm Every Woman hitmaker is also set to headline Radio 2 In The Park on September 12 in Stirling, Scotland, adding another major live moment to her 2027 schedule.

Away from the studio, Khan recently partnered with investment firm HarbourView to help “evolve her legacy” through catalogue development and new creative ventures. She said: “Music is the most powerful and generous thing I know, you give it away and somehow it always comes back bigger. Seeing these songs still finding new ears and new hearts fills me up with joy.”

HarbourView praised her “remarkable talent,” calling her a multigenerational force whose voice and presence remain unmatched.

Khan also made headlines earlier this year after criticizing modern pop stars for relying on shock value. “These women are doing any and every d*** thing on stage and trying to sing, too,” she said, arguing that performers who lean heavily on physical display are often “compensating for what they don’t have.”

Curious Subject is out now, with CHAKZILLA to follow in September.
