If Ryan Murphy takes a liking to an actor, steady work tends to follow. He has a habit of bringing the same performers back, sometimes even within the same anthology series. That was the case with 'American Horror Story,' and it’s proving true with 'Monster.' Charlie Hunnam is expected to join the show’s fourth season, news that comes just ahead of the debut of the Hunnam-led third season.
The role will look much different for Hunnam this time. In season three of 'Monster,' the British actor, best known for starring in 'Son's of Anarchy,' stars as serial killer Ed Gein, who loosely inspired many horror movie villains. Season four, however, shifts focus to the tale of Lizzie Borden, with Hunnam set to play Lizzie’s father opposite Rebecca Hall as her stepmother.
Borden was accused of ax murdering both in 1892. Though acquitted, the case kept her name in the cultural lexicon long before the true-crime boom of recent years.
It will be a while before viewers see Hunnam in the fourth season of 'Monster,' as season three will debut first on Netflix on October 3.
