Chris Hemsworth is reflecting on his time as Thor and thanking fans for their support ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. The actor has been a crucial part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011 and appeared in Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, and What If...?.
"Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. For the last 15 years I've held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special… was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for this character have meant everything to me," he wrote on YouTube. "Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable.. Next up, Doomsday!"
The release date for Avengers: Doomsday was recently moved from May 1, 2026, to December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars will then follow on December 17, 2027, but it is unclear if Hemsworth will return for that title as well.
The last time we saw the character was in Thor: Love and Thunder, which was Thor's fourth solo movie. This will also serve as an on-screen reunion between Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston's Thor and Loki after the latter's tragic death in Avengers: Infinity War ahead of Loki.
The rest of the cast includes Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.
You can currently watch all of the Thor and Avengers films on Disney+.
