Christopher Abbott is excited to become a father.

The 40-year-old Broadway star's relationship with Aubrey Plaza was made public last month when it was revealed they are expecting their first baby, and the Poor Things actor is looking forward to the future.

Appearing on Today with his Death of a Salesman co-star Nathan Lane on Monday (18.05.26), co-host Jenna Bush Hager asked Christopher if she could congratulate him.

He smiled: "You can."

Jenna then mentioned his baby news, and he quipped: "I thought - for my Tony nom. I'm kidding, I know. There's too much going on.

"That's very nice, thank you very much. It's very exciting."

The couple confirmed to People magazine they were expecting a baby in the autumn last month.

A source added to the outlet : "It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year. They feel very blessed."

Aubrey - whose estranged husband Jeff Baena passed away last year - recently revealed she is looking forward to seeing what motherhood is "all about".

During an appearance on the SmartLess podcast, she said: "There’s a baby inside of me right now. Yes it’s true… I know it’s shocking isn’t it.

"Yes [this is baby number one]."

The 41-year-old actress went on to explain how she went to the doctor for an ultrasound scan before recording the podcast and she had to take her dog to the vet on the same day for a similar procedure.

She added: "Today was a big day I went to the doctors today, and my dog also went to the doctor. My dog is getting a scan right now and I got a scan earlier.

"She’s also getting a scan on her stomach … I think she’s ok. She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach and I got an ultrasound on my stomach and there is a baby in there…"

Asked if she's excited about becoming a mother, Aubrey replied: "I am [excited], I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about you know. It seems so interesting that whole thing … "

Christopher and Aubrey have known one another for along time, having previously starred together in 2020 movie Black Bear and the off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea in 2023.
