Cillian Murphy is staying booked and busy following his Oscar win.

Not only has he teased a new project in collaboration with Netflix, but he is now set to lead and produce a new film titled Blood Runs Coal from Universal Pictures, as per Deadline.

Universal secured a pre-emptive acquisition of the book on which it is based, Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America, from author Mark A. Bradley.

Steve Halvonik from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette described the book as a vivid account of "one of the most shocking episodes in organized labor's blood-soaked history".

Bradley will executive produce the film, with Jez Butterworth co-writing the script with John-Henry Butterworth.

John Davis and Jordan Davis are lined up as producers via Davis Entertainment. Murphy will produce alongside collaborator Alan Moloney through their Big Things Films.

Cillian Murphy won his first Oscar this year for appearing in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which told the true story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, charting his involvement in developing the atomic bomb.

Who will direct Blood Runs Coal is still to be announced.
