Erin Burnett was floored when she listened to an interview with a Donald Trump voter, who said he still supports the president, despite recent financial hardships under the Trump administration. When the Trump supporter revealed the extreme lifestyle changes he and his wife have had to make to get by, Burnett was left completely shocked.
In an interview with NPR, a Trump voter from Georgia insisted he will still support the president amid his financial crisis due to Trump’s war with Iran. “I just try to do the cutting back that I could do to in order to try to, you know, survive until we make it through it,” the subject said. “It’s like anything else. It’s a season.”
He then said that he and his wife have been “fasting” to save money. “It’s, like, a lot of benefits,” the Trump supporter claimed. “And including one of those benefits is saving money on groceries.”
On a recent episode of Erin Burnett OutFront, the CNN reporter could barely form words in response. “I mean, it’s stunning,” she said. “I can’t stop thinking about it. That fasting is a solution. How do Democrats combat that sort of loyalty?”
Burnett is often critical of Trump on her CNN show, and it was recently reported that she will be ousted at CNN now that Paramount has acquired Warner Bros. Discovery, the company that owns the network. The Guardian reported in November that journalists whom Trump does not approve of, including Burnett, would get the axe if the acquisition happened (the deal went through in February).
After working at CNBC for more than five years, Burnett moved on to CNN in 2011. She has been hosting Erin Burnett OutFront on the network ever since. Burnett and CNN ahve not publicly commented about her future plans.
