'Cold Storage' trailer: Liam Neeson and Joe Keery fight brain exploding fungus

Liam Neeson is enjoying the success of "The Naked Gun," and hoping to ride on that wave, we've gotten a trailer for a 2026 film starring Neeson and Joe Kerry from "Stranger Things" fame. The movie is called "Cold Storage," and it's packed with action and gross zombielike monsters. Like, super gross.

The trailer does seem compelling, even if Neeson is back to playing stern authority figures instead of riffing on them. Keery can also play a well-meaning doofus in his sleep. We know less about British actress Georgina Campbell, the other lead.

In terms of smidges of trepidation, or at least reasons for brake pumping, we have the director and the screenwriter. The movie is being directed by Jonny Campbell (no relation to Georgina the best we can tell, so no nepotism involved) and he's a British director who has essentially only done television. As for the screenplay, it was written by David Koepp, who also wrote the book "Cold Storage," and that's where the dice is being rolled.

Koepp is a prolific and immensely-successful screenwriter, the kind of guy who gets credited with one or two other writers on massive projects. The dude is golden forever for co-writing "Jurassic Park." He also has credits on "Mission: Impossible" and "Spider-Man." So what could be the issue?

Well, he wrote "The Shadow." He wrote and directed "Stir of Echoes" and "Secret Window." Koepp jumped into the Indiana Jones franchise...getting writing credits on "Crystal Skull" and "Dial of Destiny."

We get why he works as a piece of a puzzle. We've read "Cold Storage," and it absolutely moves. The plot is propulsive and compelling. Koepp also seems to have no idea how actual human beings talk or think or act. So when we see a movie wherein he's adapting himself that was directed by an inexperienced film director...we're a bit worried.

At least the cast seems good, and if nothing else, it'll be worth a shot wherever it ends up streaming.
