Get excited, Critters. It’s Critical Role season now. Recently, we learned that a new Game Master would take the helm of Critical Role Campaign 4 (Brennan Lee Mulligan), and we learned who would join its cast (thirteen incredible players), we even learned the names of the new characters, who would play them, and caught a glimpse of their artwork. But now we have the most precious gift of all. Yes, it’s our first taste of what the new Critical Role campaign will be like. It’s the Critical Role Campaign 4 trailer. Huzzah!!!
It sure will be strange not to have the dulcet tones of Matt Mercer leading the way in Critical Role‘s newest adventure. But Critical Role Campaign 4‘s trailer sets our hearts at ease as Brennan Lee Mulligan seamlessly invites us into the world of a new campaign. We feel our spirits soaring, we feel our hearts, racing, we feel ready to go on this new Critical Role adventure into the lands of Aramán.
“The wolves are at our door,” Brennan Lee Mulligan teases of Critical Role Campaign 4, “It’s been 12 years since the Falconer’s Rebellion and the Sundered Houses are stronger than ever; the revolutionary council just a shadow of its former glory.” Sounds like trouble to us. We learn that “My grandparents and yours defied the gods to save their people.” And now it seems like it’s our turn. To fight. To die. It’s time for an epic journey. Brennan Lee Mulligan can still hear the falcon’s cry. Can you?
Along side its trailer, Critical Role Campaign 4 revealed the following synopsis:
In a land still suffering from the fallout of dead gods and living in the shadow of a tumultuous rebellion, these disparate people will come together across the fractured world of Aramán and connect in ways they never imagined. As hope and victory fade, a question hangs over Aramán. Without the Gods, what great deeds now fall to us? And who, or what, shall grab their crown for themselves?
Additionally, a release shares, “After three beloved campaigns set in the fantasy world of Exandria featuring the stories of Vox Machina (Campaign 1), The Mighty Nein (Campaign 2), and Bells Hells (Campaign 3), Critical Role is making a bold leap to an entirely new world called Aramán, marking a major evolution for the franchise. This campaign will also follow a stellar extended cast of players including Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, Luis Carazo, Robbie Daymond, Aabria Iyengar, Whitney Moore, and Alexander Ward, with Brennan Lee Mulligan weaving this new saga as Game Master.
More specifically, the trailer release for Critical Role Campaign 4 shares, this campaign “sets the stage for a world on the brink. A hero to many, and enemy to some, when Thjazi Fang is marked for execution, various figures from across his remarkable life unite to uncover the truth behind his grim fate…”
Critical Role reveals that Campaign 4 will usethe updated 2024 rules for Dungeons & Dragons, mixed with some homebrew elements from renowned creatives Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford,
Additionally, the players will engage in a West Marches-style approach to gameplay where the story unfolds through the perspectives of three distinct rotating tables: the valiant Soldiers, the vigorous Seekers, and the veiled Schemers. “As their paths converge, we’ll dive deeper into Aramán, a world of wonder with sorcery stemming from the graveyard of the gods and carrying forward the spirit of epic sagas reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.”
