Everyone is talking about James Gunn’s Superman, which is expected to bring in nearly $130 million domestically during its premiere weekend. And that’s a good reason to pay attention. Theaters and studios alike must be excited to see patrons flocking to theaters for a summer blockbuster. Let’s talk about the Man of Steel!

David Corenswet is Superman

He’s the 9th actor to wear the cape since Kirk Alyn first portrayed the hero in 1948, and David Corenswet should continue to play the part. Superman is best known for being a symbol of “truth, justice, and the American way.” His recent portrayals on the big screen have left something to be desired. This time, you’re in for a treat. This is the one we’ve been waiting for. He’s good, through-and-through. There are so many ways he shows his kindness and generosity. And he sees the best in people. He gives of himself and helps those who need it.

But he isn’t perfect. He is a flawed person with powerful emotions to match his physical might. And Corenswet did an incredible job of embodying everything that Superman is.

Why Superman is a Must-See

In case you’re undecided about seeing it in the theater, let us give you some reasons why you should go.

James Gunn and DC Studios have put together a story with the qualities you want in a film based on comic books. Sometimes it’s campy, and you’ll laugh. Sometimes it’s grim and you’ll gasp. And, most importantly, there are moments of triumph where you’ll want to applaud. This isn’t an origin story. We know that part. This story takes place well into his time as a hero. Everything you need to know is worked into the story in a way that is fluid and delightful. There weren’t any moments of a character saying, “As you know…” to explain something.

The visuals are stunning. The score fits perfectly. And when you hear that classic theme music during the opening, you’ll feel a chill. (Also, there’s a dog. He’s the goodest boy.)

A Cast of Heroes and Villains

It isn’t just Superman saving the day either. He’s joined by Krypto, an untrained canine sidekick, Guy Gardner, a Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and more. It takes a team to win truly. And he’s good at making friends (Rachel Brosnahan is a perfect Lois Lane).

What would a hero be without a worthy villain? Nicholas Hoult is a fitting Lex Luthor who coldly goes after Superman no matter the cost. You’ll also see Eve Teschmacher (Sara Sampaio) and even Otis (Terence Rosemore).

What Are You Waiting For?

This is the Superman we’ve been wanting! He’s here! Go to the theater and see Superman. It’s the feel-good hero movie you didn’t even know you needed right now. There are so many relevant themes in this story. We don’t want to spoil anything for you, though. So we’re leaving out the best parts.

Go see it for yourself. And tell your friends. Then come back here for more entertainment news!
