At first glance, Disney seemed to give Marvel fans a surprise what looked like the first official promo art for “Avengers: Secret Wars” started making the rounds online. The excitement didn’t last long, though. Turns out Disney used a fan-made Secret Wars poster during an official upfront event in São Paulo, Brazil.
The artwork featured Captain America, Miles Morales, and The Beyonder, leading many to believe it was legitimate Marvel marketing material. The poster in question was created by DeviantArt user CameToGiveLuv back in July. It shows Miles Morales leaping into action with electricity crackling from his fist (similar to his look in PlayStation’s Spider-Man games), alongside Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Doctor Doom, and The Beyonder.
According an X account, @AvengersUpdated, the user captioned, “Disney promoted ‘AVENGERS: SECRET WARS’ with a fan-made poster at an official upfront event at São Paulo.” Marvel and Disney have definitely used placeholder artwork before—promo material and merchandise designs often show up at events before official posters are ready.

But this appears to be the first time fan art has slipped through the cracks. Of course, Marvel has not publicly confirmed that it was the studio’s intention to use the fan-made poster. The studio has been for the most part keeping many characters for “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” under wraps.
That alone has led to speculations on who the mystery characters are for both movies. Only 27 actors have been confirmed to appear for “Avengers: Doomsday,” especially some members of Fox’s original X-Men. As far as Miles Morales, Kevin Feige made clear on Variety in the summer saying, “That is nowhere.”
Therefore, we really shouldn’t we read anything into Miles Morales and The Beyonder showing up on this poster? Some fans are speculating that Disney might have accidentally used this image because it closely resembles official Secret Wars art that hasn’t been released yet. That feels like a reach.
More likely, the local organizers needed something to represent Secret Wars at the event and grabbed the first convincing image they found without realizing it was fan-made. As of now, no version of Spider-Man has been confirmed for either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars.” There aren’t even any casting rumors floating around for Miles Morales in the MCU.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has previously said that Miles won’t make his MCU debut until after Sony releases “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse“, which is scheduled for June 2027. That timeline would make it tough for Miles to appear in Secret Wars, which hits theaters just six months later in December 2027.
So Far, both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” have faced major delays. Doomsday is now set for December 18, 2026, while Secret Wars lands on December 17, 2027. The Russo brothers are back with Marvel Studios to direct both films.
Secret Wars represents a massive milestone – it’s the MCU’s 40th movie, the sixth Avengers film, and the epic conclusion to Phase 6 of the Multiverse Saga. For now, fans shouldn’t get too excited about this poster mishap. While Miles Morales joining the MCU would be incredible, this fan art confusion is likely just an honest mistake.
