Do you remember all of the "Star Wars" movies & TV shows of the last decade?

You could argue that the world of Star Wars is the most significant pop-culture entity in the world. It all began in 1977 with the original  “Star Wars” and there have been works both beloved and reviled since then. Back in the day, there would be intermittent offerings, most poorly received. You know, the holiday special, the prequel trilogy, et al. In the last decade, though, the offerings in the universe spawned by “Star Wars” have been as robust as ever. Here is every film, and TV show, built out of the “Star Wars” universe from the last 10 years.

“The Force Awakens” (2015)

“The Force Awakens” (2015)
Disney

George Lucas’ prequels were huge events but not well-received critically or by fans. That put the franchise on ice for years, but then Disney bought the property from Lucas and took it in a new direction. J.J. Abrams was tasked to bridge the old franchise staples with the new characters. “The Force Awakens” was polarizing, but it was also a huge hit. The film was the highest-grossing movie domestically of its year. Also, we happen to think it is quite good.

“The Last Jedi” (2017)

“The Last Jedi” (2017)
Disney

Bringing in a director with his own style and vision was bold for Disney and the “Star Wars” producers. Rian Johnson took some bold swings with “The Last Jedi” making it the most-polarizing movie in the franchise to date. Some love it. Some hate it. We think it’s quite good, if a bit flawed, and just a smidge below “The Force Awakens” in terms of quality.

“The Rise of Skywalker” (2019)

“The Rise of Skywalker” (2019)
Disney

Disney and company got shook by the “Last Jedi” fallout. They brought Abrams back to direct and to walk back much of “The Last Jedi.” That left “The Rise of Skywalker” a bit overstuffed and a bit erratic from a storytelling perspective. People who care about “Star Wars” didn’t like it, and maybe hated it. We think it’s fine, because we aren’t emotionally invested in “Star Wars.”

“Rogue One” (2016)

“Rogue One” (2016)
Disney

Riding high on the revitalization of the “Star Wars” machine, Disney greenlit some standalone, one-off movies in the world of the franchise. “Rogue One” is an immediate prequel to the “Star Wars,” chronicling how a ragtag group of rebels got the Death Star schematics to the right people. The movie threads the needle, and we find “Rogue One” to be the best “Star Wars” film. Not of the new movies. Full stop.

“Solo” (2018)

“Solo” (2018)
Disney

Maybe don’t try and task an actor with taking on Harrison Ford’s mantle. “Solo” is a prequel chronicling something of an origin story for the scruffy-looking nerf herder with a secret heart of gold. Production was also a mess, and that is reflected in the movie “Solo” is mediocre, and the least of the modern-era “Star Wars” films.

“Rebels”

“Rebels”
Disney

We move from film to TV. Technically, this is the chronological starting point. “Rebels” debuted on Disney XD in 2014 and ran four seasons and 75 episodes. The animated show was, like much “Star Wars” animation, helmed in part by Dave Filoni. “Rebels” takes place between “Revenge of the Sith” and “Star Wars,” not unlike “Rogue One.” It just covered more ground.

“Resistance”

“Resistance”
Disney

Once “Rebels” wrapped up, Filoni went to his next Disney animated product. “Resistance” focuses on Kazuda Xiono, a pilot for the “New Republic” (i.e. the Galactic Empire” that becomes a spy for the resistance. It’s not unlike “Rogue One” but for the new trilogy. “Resistance” ran only two seasons, but both seasons were nominated for Outstanding Children’s Program Emmys.

“The Bad Batch”

“The Bad Batch”
Disney

Clone troopers play a big role in the, well, Clone Wars and Order 66 and a bunch of prequel-era stuff. There is, however, Clone Force 99, aka “The Bad Batch,” who have genetic mutations that leave them not “proper” clone troopers. Because of this, The Bad Batch does not take part in Order 66, which leaves them on the run from the Empire. The animated Disney+ show (yes, from Filoni) finished off a three-season run in May 2024.

“Visions”

“Visions”
Disney

“Visions” is a bold venture for “Star Wars,” and it pays off by dint of taking chances. The animated show is an anthology series set in the “Star Wars” universe. In the first season, every episode was an anime short film from seven different Japanese studios. The second season trotted the globe with animators from India, Ireland, Chile, and more partaking.

“Tales”

“Tales”
Disney

The first installment of “Tales” came out on Disney+ in 2022 and was called “Tales of the Jedi.” It followed two paths, Ahsoka Tano’s journey to the Jedi and Count Dooku’s journey to the Dark Side. The show is now officially an anthology series, because a second season dropped in 2024 that tells a different story. “Tales of the Empire” first tells the story of Morgan Elsbeth, and then jumps to telling the story of Jedi turncoat Barriss Offee.

“Young Jedi Adventures”

“Young Jedi Adventures”
Disney

The final animated show is for the young audiences. It airs on Disney Jr. after all. “Young Jedi Adventures” is designed to get preschool-aged kids primed to be “Star Wars” fans. It focuses on Jedi younglings years before the events of “Star Wars.” Since, you know, wars aren’t ideal for such a young audience.

“The Mandalorian”

“The Mandalorian”
Disney

For our money, “The Mandalorian” is the best “Star Wars” show, and probably the best “Star Wars” product. The Space Western follows a devout member of the Mandalorian order who works as a bounty hunter. Then, he takes a shine to a bounty, who we will forever call Baby Yoda, and a new adventure begins. In addition to three quality seasons of action television, there is a “Mandalorian” movie looming on the horizon for 2026.

“The Book of Boba Fett”

“The Book of Boba Fett”
Disney

Boba Fett looked cool in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, but that does not a compelling character make. “The Book of Boba Fett” featured a not-dead Boba in dual stories of what happened after he went into the Sarlacc and what was going on for the bounty hunter during the timeline of “The Mandalorian.” To that end, the episodes of “Book of Boba Fett” we enjoyed were the ones that were basically just “Mandalorian” episodes.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi”

“Obi-Wan Kenobi”
Disney

Ewan McGregor is a fine actor, but by dint of playing Obi-Wan in the prequels, he was not given the best material to work with. He got a chance to take another crack at the character in a limited series. “Obi-Wan Kenobi” follows the Jedi who must lurk in the shadows as he works to protect Luke and Leia as promised. Did we need so much sassy little kid Leia? Maybe not, but the show was solid enough.

“Andor”

“Andor”
Disney

We really like “Rogue One,” and “Andor” is a “Rogue One” prequel. That being said, the show doesn’t rise to the level of the film. Unfortunately, about nine episodes worth of story were stretched out into 12 episodes. “Andor” is a good look at how a rogue becomes a rebel, but brevity has its perks.

“Ahsoka”

“Ahsoka”
Disney

If you are a “Star Wars” fan of a certain age, Ahsoka Tano probably means a ton to you. She’s probably the most-significant character added to the world of “Star Wars” between the prequels and the Disney era. Getting Rosario Dawson for the role was pretty cool too. Now, for those who didn’t grow up on the cartoons Ahsoka starred in, a lot of “Ahsoka” was not clear, but it at least packs in the action better than some “Star Wars” series.

“The Acolyte”

“The Acolyte”
Disney

Disney overextended plans for “Star Wars” movies and had to pull back. “The Acolyte” may indicate that that has proven true for shows now as well. “The Acolyte” just kind of blipped. It’s “prestige TV” by way of “Star Wars” and critics liked it, but the show didn’t have the cultural oomph of “Ahsoka,” much less “The Mandalorian.” It ended up getting canceled after the first season by proving to be not popular enough for how pricey it was to make. Hey, it’s hard to know when you’ve oversaturated the market until it’s too late.

“Skeleton Crew”

“Skeleton Crew”
Disney

Of course, “Skeleton Crew” was already in the works and primed to drop in 2024 after “The Acolyte” had landed with a thud. Maybe by dint of being fun and not serious it has a chance to be more successful. “Skeleton Crew” is family friendly and can rely on a child audience that “The Acolyte” could not serve. Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, who brought “Spider-Man: Homecoming” into existence together, have crafted an Amblin-style “Star Wars” story that’s got a lot of “Goonies” in it. Jude Law plays something of a Force-using father figure to a group of ragtag kids who end up lost in the galaxy and need to make their way back home.
