Doja Cat is back and better than ever, with her fifth studio album, Vie. Set to be released on September 26, 2025, the album’s title translates to “Life” in French. Vie is described as a “pop-driven project” and is heavily inspired by the 1980s Pop/R&B sub-genre, New Jack Swing.

Doja Cat’s new album explores a French Theme

The album’s release date was officially revealed via a social media trailer. The trailer featured Doja Cat in front of the Eiffel Tower, repeating the phrase “Je sais que tu es ma vie” (I know you are my life). This announcement follows a series of teasers shared on social media. These teasers included a screenshot of potential track titles shared in November of 2024. The teasers also included a live Instagram preview of tracks like “Lipstain” and “Acts Of Service” in March 2025.

The lead single, “Jealous Type,” was released on August 21, 2025, and was first previewed at the Outside Lands Music Festival. The song, which blends funk-pop and disco-pop genres, was written by Doja Cat alongside Y2K and Jack Antonoff. Antonoff also served as the song’s producer. “Jealous Type” was first previewed in May 2025 during a collaboration with Marc Jacobs, where a snippet was featured in an advertisement. The official release date was announced on August 7, 2025.

Doja Cat gained widespread viral success in 2018 with the release of the novelty song “Mooo!” The became a prominent internet meme and was later included on her debut studio album, Amala (2018). Her second studio album, Hot Pink (2019), reached the top ten of the US Billboard 200. It was propelled by the hit single “Say So,” after which a remix featuring Nicki Minaj, topped the Billboard Hot 100.

Her third studio album, Planet Her (2021), spent four weeks at number two on the Billboard 200. It also spent over six months in the top 10. It spawned top ten singles, “Need to Know,” “Woman,” and “Kiss Me More” (featuring SZA). The latter won her a Grammy Award in 2022.

The Los Angeles native’s fourth studio album, Scarlet (2023), adopted a hip-hop-oriented sound. It peaked within the top five of the Billboard 200.  The lead single, “Paint the Town Red,” marked her first solo number-one on the Billboard Hot 100. It also topped sixteen international charts and the Billboard Global 200.

Known for her versatility, live performing skills, and outgoing personality, she is often dubbed the “Queen of Pop-Rap“. Her accolades include a Grammy Award, 6 Billboard Music Awards, 5 American Music Awards, and 5 MTV Video Music Awards.
