Turtle mania is back, baby! Mondo has just unveiled a phenomenal new collectible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figure that makes us wanna scream COWABUNGA! Kicking off a brand new line of 1:6 scale, collector-oriented figures inspired by the ’90s films, Donatello has never looked better.
The 12-inch figure brings the pizza-munching, tech wiz of the crime-fighting quartet to life. It comes with a laundry list of accessories, including the character’s signature bo staff, various weapons and tech items, two Mouser robots, and the head of metalhead. The figure also has multiple swap-out heads and hands for dynamic poses. It will be available exclusively at Mondo for a limited time only.
The figure is an original design from Mondo. Hyper realistic and extremely detailed, Donnie looks straight out of the classic 1990s movie. Mondo’s Senior Director of Creative and Product Development Hector Arce spoke with IGN about the creative process.
“Mondo was the first to do 1:6 TMNT back in the day, and those were directly based on the Mirage comics,” Arce said. “When we decided to jump back into this space, we wanted to make sure we approached it from a fresh angle that celebrates the look and feel from the ’90s films while also creating a brand-new Mondo-specific story that informs all the figure design choices. This meant really digging into that vibe and grounding our designs in that era.
Donnie is just the first of several radical TMNT figures to come. Arce teases that the next addition to the pipeline may be the masked heroes’ nemesis Shredder. The streets of New York City are looking a whole lot cleaner with these sewer-dwelling, mutant heroes around. Mondo’s Donatello figure is up for presale now.
