Duffer Brothers Exit Netflix for Paramount, But STRANGER THINGS Series Are SAFE
Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Will put their hands together in the woods on Stranger Things 5 Netflix

Its official, Stranger Things creators the Duffer brothers are leaving Netflix, where they made a name for themselves with the popular series, for Paramount. The Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, have signed a new four year agreement with Paramount and will leave Netflix behind in April 2026. But what does the Duffer Brothers leaving Netflix mean for the final season of Stranger Things and the promised Stranger Things spinoffs? It turns out, absolutely nothing. The Duffer Brothers assure fans they’ll still be involved in the Stranger Things world even after their exit from Netflix. Looks like the Duffer brothers are having their Upside Down cake and eating it too.

Here’s what we know about the future of Stranger Things and the Duffer brothers. The Duffer brothers share, “Our time at Netflix has been incredible. Ted [Sarandos], Bela [Bajaria], and Peter [Friedlander] have given us the kind of creative freedom and support that artists dream of but so rarely receive. A decade in, they are family. We’re excited to continue collaborating – not only on the upcoming release of Stranger Things 5, but also on shows we’re deeply proud to be producing, including Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen and The Boroughs. And we look forward to building out the future of Stranger Things together – there are many more stories to tell beyond Hawkins, and we can’t wait to share them.

That means even though the Duffer brothers are leaving Netflix, they are not leaving Stranger Things. As Variety notes, “At the completion of their Netflix deal, the Duffers will remain involved in Stranger Things and their other existing development projects.” So rest easy, the Stranger Things animated series, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, and potential spinoff are safe.

In the meantime, all other Duffer brother projects will belong to Paramount. The brothers have signed a four-year exclusive deal with the company and are looking at “ambitious” and  “large-scale theatrical” projects. We’ll see if the the Duffer brothers can strike Stranger Things-esque gold for Paramount like they did for Netflix.
