Dune 3 is coming, confirms Hans Zimmer.
The legendary composer, who’s responsible for Dune and Dune: Part Two’s scores, recently revealed its existence in a new interview, despite the film not officially being announced.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, Zimmer says, “Second day of shooting, [director] Denis puts Dune Messiah on my desk, doesn’t say a word. I know where we’re going.”
Previously, there were only rumors the third film in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series would adapt Frank Herbet’s Dune Messiah, but Zimmer’s words confirm it.
The first two films cover the first and second halves of Herbet’s first book in the series, 1965’s Dune. His second book, 1969’s Dune Messiah, is expected to be much more difficult to adapt.
Set 12 years into Paul Atreides' (Timothée Chalamet) reign as Emperor, he faces the threat of forces attempting to destabilize him and grapples with the fallout of causing the deaths of billions.
While Warner Bros. has yet to officially comment on the film’s existence, a sequel was always going to happen considering Dune: Part Two grossed half a billion.
