Elizabeth Olsen says she will not be in 'Avengers: Doomsday' or 'Secret Wars'

While promoting The Assessment , Elizabeth Olsen spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, who wrote that the actress will not be part of Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which will be directed by the Russo Brothers. The reason being "the back-to-back productions are gearing up to shoot in London soon, and Olsen just returned to the U.S. after wrapping Sam Esmail’s Panic Carefully in London."

Olsen explained, "I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters]." She played the character of Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and What If...?

"I didn’t realize this until about six years ago, but because Marvel and its influence takes up so much physical time and space in the world, it’s really important for me to make choices outside of Marvel that reflect my own taste," Olsen explained. "Your taste does create the artist that you are, and that wasn’t something I was thinking about when I first started working. So the opportunity to return to films like [The Assessment] is a reflection of the people I want to work with and my own personal taste."

Back in September of 2024, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she told the host that she thinks her character is dead after the ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, she added, "I would beg to leave a window open [to come back]. I have so much fun doing these movies."

If Wanda truly is dead, then she would "like to figure out a way how to cleverly be undead," which would require "the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense." She ended by saying that she is "open to ideas" and would like to be alive.
