Elon Musk and Grimes confirm split: 'We are semi-separated but still love each other'

Elon Musk and Grimes have broken up, sort of.

"We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” Musk exclusively revealed to Page Six. "It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in L.A. She's staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room."

Grimes, 33, and Musk, 50, first met over Twitter—the most relatable aspect of their relationship—and Page Six reported in May 2018 that the musician (born Claire Boucher) and the entrepreneurial billionaire were "quietly dating." They welcomed their first child, a son named X Æ A-12 Musk, in May 2020:

The announcement included a full breakdown of the baby's name from Grimes:

The semi-separated co-parents' last public appearance came at the 2021 Met Gala, where Grimes walked the red carpet solo and later connected with Musk at the A-list afterparty he hosted.
