Emilia Clarke obviously wishes Daenerys wouldn't have died

Game of Thrones (somewhat controversially) ended in May 2019 with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), the Mother of Dragons, killed by Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and Clarke is still not over it.

The 34-year-old actress was asked during theSkimm's new installment of "Texting With" which GoT storyline or scene she would have changed.

"Right," she said with a laugh. "The bit where I died!"

At the time the series finale aired, Clarke explained her emotional dismay over her character's fate in more detail with Entertainment Weekly:

"I cried. And I went for a walk. I walked out of the house and took my keys and phone and walked back with blisters on my feet. I didn’t come back for five hours. I’m like, 'How am I going to do this?'

[...]

"I thought she was going to die. I feel very taken care of as a character in that sense. It’s a very beautiful and touching ending. Hopefully, what you’ll see in that last moment as she’s dying is: There’s the vulnerability — there’s the little girl you met in season 1. See? She’s right there. And now, she’s not there anymore. ... But having said all of the things I’ve just said, I stand by Daenerys. I stand by her! I can’t not."

Elsewhere with theSkimm, Clarke reveals which GoT co-stars served as her on-set therapist, which Friends star commented on her Instagram, and which movie star surprised her with a DM. Watch the segment below.
